I specifically ordered this to use on dogs. I walk a lot and have been chased several times and almost bitten. My husband was walking and bitten by a dog through his pants. It did not break the skin, but it drove me to action and I bought this spray. I had to use it today on a dog that tried to chase and bite me. I sprayed it right in his eyes. He stopped immediately and shook his head several times and backed off. It was worth every penny! I will never walk without it!

I bought this for my girlfriend. She has two kids and just got a house out in the middle of nowhere. When she first moved in to her place, she was always stressed at night and paranoid at every little sound outside. She would get mad at me for not being there every single night.

We went over several options for her safety including a gun, a dog, a taser, etc. With the kids, the only realistic options would be pepper spray or a strategically placed baseball bat.

Her peace of mind, for less that , is why I gave this 5 stars. She said she tested it outside and the stream is very powerful. The child safety locks are great with the kids around (just in case) and she loves that it is pink. She has been much more at ease with living on her own since she received the spray.

This was the best solution to calm her down, keep her safe, and let me keep my own child-less apartment; very happy with the purchase. I’ll probably get her an extra one so she can keep one in the car and one in her house.

Cold Steel Sjambok – 42″ – Black Reviews

I just received my 42″ Sjambok today in the mail and eagerly took it out for a trial spin while walking my dog. First, I have to say that the Cold Steel Sjambok is solid state in construction and very light. I carried it tucked under my arm like a swagger stick. The initial appearance is that of a riding crop on steroids. Not so obvious as to draw unwanted attention but certainly impressive enough to mean business.

I have been using a recently purchased Cold Steel African Walking Stick lately but wanted to give the new Sjambok a try. My first night out I was charged by a loose German Shepard in my neighborhood. I swished the stick about while yelling and the dog immediately backed off. I have no doubt that I could have effectively flayed the beast if necessary but the intimidation alone seemed sufficent.

So far, my initial impression is quite positive. This stick delivers exactly as advertised and seems impervious to destruction. It is light and quite pleasurable to carry while walking the suburbs. For those roaming off the beaten trail, a solid, load bearing stick like the African Walking Stick might be more suitable provided some good padded gloves are worn (see my previous review on that item).

In summary, no complaints on the Sjambok. It is exactly as described and very capable of being used for defensive purposes. I’m happy with my purchase and consider this a steal at the current price.

I bought this on a whim but now am glad that I did. I hike a lot in desert country and really like this to sweep the grass and check for snakes. At 42 inches I am not sure this is good for any other critters but the flexibility and light weight makes me prefer it over trekking poles/walking staffs. Not recommended if you need something for stability.

This was a great piece of mind purchase for me. My wife works in downtown New Haven and has to walk to her car everyday in a parking garage and at times it can get late. It is not bulky and is pretty discrete. She is able to carry it on her keychain. It has a button clasp on the leather case that exposes the canister and to activate you need to slide the trigger over with your thumb then press down; so there is a pretty slim chance it will go off by accident in your purse or bag.

It’s great that this purchase comes in a two-pack .. because it may be a good idea to fire off one as a “test” to see how it performs it will give you a good idea of range & duration. This is seriously a great non-lethal deterrent for would be attackers and animals. Live, Work, Play Safe!

I purchased the pepper spray for my wife for security when she takes walks in the area. She has used mace in the past to deter dogs that chase and bite. When I received the 2 bottles I was expecting containers that you could actually hold, instead the containers are the size of a lipstick container. What a farce. Previous purchases of mace were 2 to 3 times the size. The product inside probably will work but I question how effective the small amount will be. The container is so small that a mans hand can hardly hold it and flip the cover to be able to spray. My advice, look for a product with more than 1/2 oz.
